They are all analog-style and therefore 'character' effects imho - but very very usable and musical sounding. hey.that sort of sounds like, you know, a real studio!īuilt-in effects seem really high quality and are made by sonalksis. It's pretty amazing how many different sounds you can get out of one snare just by playing with the mics. In terms of mic's that can be accessed it's got overhead, close, mid, and far ambient mics, mono ambient and an ambient bullet mic that can all be tweaked in and out to tailor your sound.

Like BFD, and actual studio drums, S2.0 is primarily a mic-centric program, so learning the mics and how to mix them is key to getting your sounds. But, when you hear the new sounds from the S2.0 library you may never get around to doing that.

EZplayer Pro is quite advanced and I haven't done anything but sample the included grooves so I can't really comment on this yet.Īnother nice thing is that if you've invested in any of EZDrummer's EZX's, they are now all available within S2.0 so you can practically uninstall EZD (but I didn't) - plus, you can mix and match kit pieces from your different EZD EZXs so if you love the snare from Vintage but the kick from DFH you can do that.

To use the included midi grooves you need to install EZPlayer Pro (free with S2.0) and place it just ahead of S2.0 in the fx chain and then all will work as expected.

One difference between EZD and S2.0 is that the midi engine is no longer a part of the drum engine like it was in EZD. That being said, I rarely install a 1.0 of anything that works as flawlessly as S2.0 did. One thing to mention is that while EZD was not officially supported in Reaper by toontrack, S2.0 is - obviously many of us used EZD and reaper perfectly so the point is subtle - but no less appreciated in terms of toontrack's ability to provide feedback and fixes if and when they're needed. Toontrack considers their approach to be superior, for what it's worth - big shocker there! The difference between disk streaming and RAM streaming (on a decent system) is also not really worth comparing imho. They are both clearly at the top of their game and will give you great drum tracks. But trying to compare BFD to S2.0 in just this way is silly. you should definitely check out the toontrack site.

how the drums were recorded, bit depth, what drums etc. While I haven't actually produced anything of finished quality, I've been familiarizing myself with the program, which is obviously more complicated than EZD. I also have just started with s2.0 - upgrading from ezdrummer.
